Hey, Dudes! Welcome to the BETA for the 1.1 update for How Many Dudes! Below you’ll find a summary of the changes in this update. The Beta will begin on Tuesday, October 13 at 12pm CDT, and it will be exclusively accessible on Steam via a password-protected branch. We’ll announce the password on the Bscotch Community Discord when the beta begins.
This update introduces 7 new Dude Types, all part of the new SPORTS family! We’re adding Soccer Dudes, Football Dudes, Coach Dudes, Basketball Dudes, Tennis Dudes, Hockey Dudes, and Broadcaster Dudes. And if you want to get technical about it, we’re also adding an 8th Dude type: Streaker Dudes. But that’s just a summon, so does it REALLY count?

In the 1.0 release, we ran into something we didn’t quite plan for: “Infinite” runs.
In round 100 and beyond, every matchup was pre-built, all the way up to round 138. Once you got past round 138, you would keep recruiting more Dudes and making more money, but your matchups would never get any harder. So if you could safely make it past round 138 with a team, you could just keep going forever.
In such a scenario, then, the “best runs” page is just a measure of your patience: How long are you willing to slog through the same round over and over?
That’s NOT QUITE what we had in mind for what a “Best Run” should be. So we’ve reworked a few things about how Endless works.
First, there are no more “repeating” rounds! Now, starting on round 126, Endless fights are randomly generated, much like the matchups before round 100. This allows the fights to grow in difficulty each round, so your team will indeed hit a point where it simply can’t handle the pressure. Uh… hopefully? Probably?
And second, we added four new enemies types that only appear in endless rounds. These enemies are much stronger and tougher than any other enemy, which allows us to throw fewer of them at the player, which results in a bit better frame rate performance in those endless rounds.
What are the four new enemies? Get into Endless mode and see!

Even though there are lots of players who struggle to get past The G.O.A.T on Tier 1, there’s also a vocal cohort of players who claim that the game is, in fact, far too easy. So we’ve added a way for these leet gamers to put their money where their mouth is!
Update 1.1 brings a new Challenge Mode that can be enabled when selecting your Tier when starting a new Run. Winning runs in Challenge mode grants Platinum Stars, which are, of course, better and shinier than Gold Stars, and they generate 30% more ego.
As noted in the screenshot above, Challenge Mode adds a whole bunch of difficulty boosts across various dimensions of the game, plus an entirely new set of boss modifiers:
